Kada imate malu djecu, priprema obroka koji je istovremeno zdrav, ukusan i pogodan za male ruke zna biti pravi izazov. Ovaj recept za piletinu u umaku od povrća s domaćim njokima od batata s jajima savršeno balansira te kriterije. Idealan je za zajednički obiteljski ručak i odličan izbor i za bebe koje već jedu krutu hranu (BLW-pristup).

Sastojci:
Piletina s povrćem:
- 4 pileća batka
- 4 srednje rajčice (narezane na male kockice, oguljene)
- 2 srednje tikvice (narezane na trakice)
- 4 ljutike (sitno nasjeckane)
- 2 češnja češnjaka (sitno nasjeckana)
- 2 lista lovora
- Nekoliko listića svježeg origana
- Ghee maslac za prženje
Njoki od batata:
- 3 veća batata
- 120-150 g pirovog brašna (ne smije biti integralno)
- 1 jaje
- Par kapi maslinovog ulja
Alternativa s krumpirom:
- 6 većih krumpira (najbolje rozi/crveni)

Priprema:
Piletina u umaku od povrća:
- Na ghee maslacu prepržite pileće batke sa svih strana. Izvadite ih iz tave.
- U istu tavu dodajte ljutiku i češnjak, prstohvat soli i dobro promiješajte.
- Kad povene, dodajte tikvice, rajčice, lovor i origano. Poklopite tavu.
- Nakon 5 minuta vratite batke u tavu, ponovno poklopite.
- Neka se krčka na srednje laganoj vatri oko 30 minuta. Povremeno okrenite meso.
- Provjerite je li piletina potpuno pečena uz kost.
Njoki od batata:
- Batat u kori premažite maslinovim uljem i posolite.
- Pecite 40 minuta na 200 °C. Vilicom provjerite je li pečen.
- Prepolovite, izdubite žlicom i protisnite kroz prešu za pire.
- Dodajte jaje i brašno, zamijesite tijesto.
- Ostavite da odmori 10-15 minuta.
- Oblikujte valjke, režite na valjuške, slažite u posudu.
- Kuhajte u kipućoj vodi – kad isplivaju, vadite ih i lagano nauljite.
- Prije posluživanja, lagano ih prepržite na ghee maslacu.

Chicken with Vegetables and Sweet Potato Gnocchi

This chicken with vegetable sauce and homemade sweet potato gnocchi with egg strikes just the right balance. It’s perfect for a shared family lunch and suitable for babies practicing baby-led weaning (BLW).
Ingredients:
Chicken with vegetables:
- 4 chicken drumsticks
- 4 medium tomatoes (diced, peeled)
- 2 medium zucchinis (cut into strips)
- 4 shallots (finely chopped)
- 2 garlic cloves (finely chopped)
- 2 bay leaves
- A few fresh oregano leaves
- Ghee butter for frying
Sweet potato gnocchi:
- 3 large sweet potatoes
- 120-150 g spelt flour (not whole grain)
- 1 egg
- A few drops of olive oil
Potato alternative:
- 6 large potatoes (preferably red-skinned)
- 120 g spelt flour
- 1 egg
- A few drops of olive oil
Preparation:
Chicken:
- Fry the chicken drumsticks in ghee butter on all sides. Remove from the pan.
- Add shallots and garlic to the same pan, add a pinch of salt, and stir well.
- Once softened, add zucchini, tomatoes, bay leaves, and oregano. Cover the pan.
- After 5 minutes, return the drumsticks to the pan and cover again.
- Simmer on medium-low heat for about 30 minutes, turning occasionally.
- Check that the chicken is fully cooked through to the bone.
Gnocchi:
- Rub the sweet potatoes with olive oil and salt.
- Bake for 40 minutes at 200 °C. Test with a fork.
- Cut in half, scoop out the flesh and mash.
- Add egg and flour, knead into dough.
- Let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
- Roll into logs, cut into gnocchi, and place in a bowl.
- Boil in water – once they float, remove and drizzle with olive oil.
- Before serving, pan-fry briefly in ghee to add color.
Tips for parents:
- This recipe is great for babies eating finger foods; the textures are soft and easy to chew.
- Make a larger batch of gnocchi ahead of time – they store well in the fridge.
